1. Who we are and how to contact us
Chew Digital® respects your privacy. This notice explains how we handle personal information when you visit our website, contact us, request a quotation, buy services or ask for support.
The data controller is Chew Digital®. Our postal address is Thursby House, 1 Thursby Road, Croft Business Park, Bromborough, Wirral, CH62 3PW.
For privacy enquiries and rights requests, email webmaster@chew.digital. You can also contact us on 0151 272 1983.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us may include your name, business name, email address, telephone number, billing or delivery details, project requirements, correspondence, support requests and order information. We may also receive content or files you ask us to use in a project.
Website systems and service providers may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device details, pages requested, timestamps and security logs. An IP address can be personal information; it is not automatically anonymous.
If you take part in an optional survey or promotion, the relevant form will explain what is requested and why. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for an agreed service and an appropriate method has been arranged.
3. Why information is used
We use relevant information to answer enquiries, prepare quotations, deliver and support services, manage orders and payments, communicate service changes and maintain our business records. Technical information helps operate, protect and improve our systems.
For individual customer enquiries, quotations, orders and support, we use information as necessary to take requested steps towards a contract or perform it. For business representatives, we rely on our legitimate interests in communicating with and serving the organisation, balanced against the individual’s rights. We rely on legal obligations for required tax and accounting records, and legitimate interests for proportionate security, fraud prevention and managing legal claims. Marketing relies on consent where required, or legitimate interests where permitted, including where the applicable electronic-marketing rules allow it.
Where information is necessary to fulfil an order or respond to your request, we may be unable to do so if it is not provided. Optional information should be identified as optional when it is collected.
4. Marketing and your choices
We promote Chew Digital® services by email and, occasionally, SMS. Where consent is required, we will obtain it unless a valid legal exception applies, such as the soft opt-in for our own similar services where all its conditions are met. You can stop marketing at any time using the unsubscribe or opt-out instructions in a message, or by emailing webmaster@chew.digital. We do not share your personal information with other businesses for their own marketing.
You have the right to object to the use of your personal information for direct marketing. Withdrawing marketing permission does not prevent essential messages about an active order or service.
5. Service providers and other recipients
Chew Digital® is your service provider. To deliver and administer our services, personal information may be handled by payment processors for Direct Debit collection and by hosting and email infrastructure providers for storage and communications. This does not mean that your information is shared for their own marketing.
Depending on the service, information may be handled by hosting and email providers, domain registrars, payment and Direct Debit providers, print or delivery suppliers, technical support providers and professional advisers. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or reasonably necessary to establish or defend legal claims, prevent fraud or protect people and systems.
If a business transfer is proposed, relevant information may be shared subject to appropriate confidentiality and data-protection arrangements. We will provide further information where required.
6. Cookies and embedded services
Cookies and similar technologies can remember preferences, support website functions and help measure usage. Use the website’s Cookie settings control to review the choices available. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser, although some features may then be unavailable.
Where consent is required, simply browsing the site is not a valid substitute for that choice. Our cookie information describes the technologies used, their purposes, providers and duration.
Our website uses CookieScript, MachForm forms, Google reCAPTCHA, Ecologi badges, a Website Carbon badge, a timeanddate clock and an Atlassian Statuspage embed. Loading external content can send technical information, such as your IP address, to the provider. Following WhatsApp, social-profile and other external links takes you to a separate service with its own privacy notice.
7. International processing and security
Some suppliers may process information outside the UK. Where this is a restricted transfer, an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism is required. Contact us for information about the countries, providers and safeguards relevant to your data.
We use appropriate organisational and technical measures to protect information, taking account of the risks. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Keep account credentials confidential and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorised access. Do not send passwords through general forms.
8. How long information is kept
Retention depends on the reason information was collected, the duration of the customer relationship, the need to resolve enquiries or disputes, relevant legal and accounting requirements, and justified security needs. We delete or anonymise information when it is no longer needed, subject to any applicable requirement to retain it.
9. Your rights and complaints
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your information, or object to its use. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it. Some rights are subject to legal conditions or exceptions.
Contact webmaster@chew.digital to make a request. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity or clarify your request. We will explain the applicable response arrangements and any lawful reason a request cannot be met. Access requests are normally free of charge and answered within one month, subject to any lawful extension, clarification or identity-verification requirements. We will explain if an exception applies.
You can raise a concern with us or complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. You do not have to exhaust our complaints process before contacting the ICO.
10. Client data and policy updates
When we handle personal information on behalf of a business customer, the respective responsibilities should be set out in the service agreement and any required data-processing terms. The business customer’s own privacy notice may govern information collected through its website or forms.
We will review this notice when our practices change. The published version will show its update date, and significant changes will be brought to your attention where appropriate.
